Rockall is a client-side consultancy, working with and from the perspective of project owners, developers and investors. Rockall specialises in large capital projects, including major and megaprojects; projects with high complexity, high risk or new technology; projects requiring multi-faceted integration or mutual dependence across the value chain; projects with significant barriers to resolve; and projects aspiring for transformational performance.

Rockall works with large capital projects in multiple sectors. While each sector has its own characteristics, the core principles of successful large capital project development and delivery are highly transferable when thoughtfully adapted to the specific project, context and risk.

Our first-hand experience leading major projects has shown the importance of project leadership working effectively with, and integrating, the specialist disciplines involved. Successful contract strategies, for example, are developed through the integrated work of project leadership with contracts expertise and aligned with the wider project objectives and delivery model.  The same principle applies across the full breadth of project activities and disciplines.

LEADERSHIP & EXPERIENCE

Rockall was founded by Gerry McGurk following more than three decades in major projects with bp, working across Europe, Africa, Asia and North America.

Gerry has held senior client-side leadership roles with accountability for major capital projects from early development through to commercial operations. His experience includes multi-billion-dollar projects and programmes, project governance, delivery strategy, organisation development, project capability, assurance, interventions and portfolio performance.

This experience provides the foundation for Rockall’s approach: practical, client-side project leadership combined with the specialist expertise needed to develop and deliver successful large capital projects.
